The English Schools Cross Country Finals were held on Saturday 5^th December in Newquay and we are delighted to have been crowned National Champions. 'Athletics Weekly' had highlighted the GHS team as favourites to win this year's Intermediate Girls title but the team knew that they would have to perform exceptionally to secure victory.

The girls were not fazed by the hilly terrain or the extremely soft ground and used their intelligence to run the race as true athletes. Girls, parents and staff were all hopeful with our final result but had to wait for the marshals to announce the official placings.

We were thrilled to hear it confirmed that GHS had secured first place and been named Intermediate Girls National Champions; it is a tremendous achievement for the team.
