Guildford High School's Fencing Team have been showing that school sport is about much more than the familiar sights of athletics, netball and rounders, winning the British Schools' Teams Fencing Championships at U13 and U15 and the Girls' Team Foil Championship Cup.

At the largest Schools' Fencing competition of the year, the Public Schools' Championships held in Nottingham, a team of seven entered across two age groups. The girls all fenced exceptionally well and dominated the competition taking 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th positions at the end of the first day. The second day of the championships saw a switch from Foil to Epee where their enthusiasm and competitiveness again stood them in good stead and they took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, with the other girls still high on the tables. Thanks to strong performances from the whole team, Guildford High School won the Girls' Team Foil Championship Cup with one team member, who came 1st in both competitions, being awarded the coveted Champion of Arms Trophy.

Continuing their winning streak, the U13 and U15 teams then travelled to the British Schools' Teams Fencing Championships in Croydon. The U15 team cruised to victory in the Foil weapon, as did the U13 team who won in convincing fashion, undefeated by any other team, making both teams champions in their age groups.
