The 2009 Concept 2 Schools' League has seen indoor rowing teams from schools across the country competing throughout the season. The Guildford High School team of four Year 10 girls established their dominance from the first month – recording the top time nationally at the outset and never looking back. They perfected their changeovers and heaved through the requisite distances to maintain their position at the top of the league in every subsequent round and even smashed the time records for their age group on some months. As the season drew to a close, the result was never in question; the GHS team finished first nationally out of 206 teams and were awarded their well-deserved gold medals and trophy. The rowing eight was also awarded silver for finishing second nationally.

The GHS fours and eights from Years 8 and 9 all finished in the top ten of their age group categories. Inspired by their impressive achievements on dry land, several of the girls are now taking to the water having joined Guildford Rowing Club's Junior Squad.
